Zen has been a gift in my life. I am not a devout practitioner of Zen Buddhism. I do not sit regular meditation. I would like to develop that routine one day, but I have work to do to get to that point. Mostly Zen has been this wise and comforting acquaintance that I have bumped into many time over the years. I always feel blessed when we meet. And loved. To me, Zen is the acceptance of all things. Beautiful and tragic, easy and hard. Mortality. Suffering. Peace. Humanity. All experiences add up to a life. Zen helps me see the difference between my mind and my soul. That wisdom is always a welcome bit of light. This painting is a little reminder that what was has now gone. And what will be is unknowable. The moon, the stars, color, whatever I see right now with my own two eyes, THAT is my experience. That is my moment. My only concern.
