In my home, everything is set up for animals. I make no apologies for this. Animals are always welcome everywhere. Humans, maybe.

One of the many reasons I love animals can be clearly understood through the scene in this painting. The idea of a domesticated animal yelling at a human to get off the sofa and to get down right now (!) is absurd. If animals owned furniture, we would always be welcome on all of it. They love us. They don't set rules and go on power trips. When I visit homes where the humans have rules about who is allowed to sit where and they are proud of themselves for having scared their animals away from various rooms or items of furniture, I am always a little scared of those humans, too. I feel like I am breaking their rules and I sit very lightly on their pretty flawless sofa, perched on the very edge in case I get yelled at and have to flee.

This fun painting is lush and loose and expressive. I like the layered colors here and I am especially satisfied with how the words work in this one. And I love painting sofas. I think I will be painting more sofas soon. :)
